Once you start to see cracks or holes in the seals around the inside of the cross / flat blades it is worth replacing before it fails. If it fails it can cause leaking and that in turn could damage the nutri ninja base unit. The seal gasket rings for the nutri ninja are an inexpensive replacement part to replace as part of regular maintenance to your blender machine.
