Created in graphite on hot-pressed Fabriano and finished with 24-carat gold leaf, the work reflects Taylor’s deep research into the ecology of over 270 UK bees — far beyond the familiar honeybee. Each tiny bee is drawn under magnification for absolute precision. The hexagonal motifs symbolising the structure and harmony within bee communities. This piece draws us in to the detail, while also being modern statement. The scultural folds within the art creating play of light and shadow.
